Gardner’s girls sharp in win over West

Gibson pours in 22 points in 42-point WNCAC win

Senior Taylor Gibson pumped a game-high 22 points to lead the Tuscola varsity girls basketball team to a 77-35 victory over visiting West Henderson on Tuesday.  
The Mountaineers improved to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the WNCAC, while the Falcons fell to 4-6 and 2-2 in the conference. Tuscola hosts East Henderson tonight.
Tuscola started the contest slow, falling behind 10-7 at the end of the first quarter. But the Mountaineers exploded for 22 second quarter points to take a 29-19 halftime lead.
The Mountainers kmaintained their hot-shooting after the break, scoring 23 points in the third and finished with 25 points in the final eight minutes.
For Tuscola, senior Shelby Tricoli had 19 points, senior Alex Swanger contributed 12 points, Samantha Beasley  added nine, Tristan Woodall chipped in six and senior Jasmine Duncan had five points.
Defensively, Tuscola allowed the Falcons just 25 points in the final three quarters, including four in the third .
In the junior varsity girls game, visiting West Henderson defeated the Mountaineers, 58-15.
