Gardner’s girls sharp in win over West
Senior Taylor Gibson pumped a game-high 22 points to lead the Tuscola varsity girls basketball team to a 77-35 victory over visiting West Henderson on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers improved to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the WNCAC, while the Falcons fell to 4-6 and 2-2 in the conference. Tuscola hosts East Henderson tonight.
Tuscola started the contest slow, falling behind 10-7 at the end of the first quarter. But the Mountaineers exploded for 22 second quarter points to take a 29-19 halftime lead.
The Mountainers kmaintained their hot-shooting after the break, scoring 23 points in the third and finished with 25 points in the final eight minutes.
