Gerald G. Queen
Canton — Gerald G. Queen, 67, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at his residence after a brief illness.
Gerald was born in Haywood County Jan. 1, 1946, to the late James and Carrie Conner Brooks Queen. He enjoyed playing music on his guitar and banjo, working on his tractor collection and woodworking. Gerald was a dedicated member and deacon at Sunny Point Baptist Church. He retired from Harrison/APAC after 30 years of enjoyment with his “boys.” Gerald was the best Daddy who truly loved his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by two daughters, Angie Marie Queen and Sharon Queen Rathbone; six brothers, Clyde, Carl, James and Melvin Queen and Arthur and Charlie Brooks.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Knight Queen; two daughters, Katie Fisher (Brian) and Laura Williams (Alan); son-in-law, Ken Rathbone; father-in-law, Roy Sorrells; one brother, Sam Brooks; two sisters, Alphia Q. Willis and Louise B. Snyder; four grandchildren, Brenton Fisher, Tyler Putnam, Kali Putnam and Savannah Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Sunny Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will follow in Sunny Point Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason Skidmore, Eddie Bradley, Danny Reece, Danny Sharp, Richard Brock, Tommy Carpenter, Andy Foster, Jerry Barnes and Tim Rogers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations.
