WAYNESVILLE —  Geraldine Lackey, 71, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at MedWest-Haywood.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Bertha Frye Wood.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death an infant brother.  Jerrie found great enjoyment in cross-stitching and reading books by her favorite author, Stephen King.  She had a special place in her heart for her Chihuahua dog, Bear, and her cat, Midnight.  Jerrie was a member at Laurel Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynne Teetzel (Mickey), of Waynesville; a special companion, Bobby “Gene” Mehaffey, of Waynesville; and one grandchild, Andrew Teetzel.
