Get ready for this year's Senior Games
Local residents Lynn Milner and Ruth Elson recently joined a group of enthusiastic participants from across the state to become official ambassadors for North Carolina Senior Games and Silver Arts.
Ambassadors encourage local residents to participate in the various events held at the local level.
Haywood County was one of the first three counties to participate in the first State Senior Games in 1983. North Carolina Senior Games began with a vision to create a year-round health promotion and wellness education program for adults 50 years of age and better.
Participants have the opportunity to compete in a variety of athletic events like croquet, shuffleboard, corn hole, pickleball, table tennis, swimming and track and field events, to name a few.
The Silver Arts portion is a celebration of the creative spirit and provides opportunities to participate in literary, visual, heritage and performing arts.
Haywood County’s local games will take place from April 20 through May 11. Look for entry forms in various locations throughout the county in early March.
