Honor and Dignity

BETHEL  — Getter Clyde Davis 81, of the Bethel community, passed away  Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. He was born in Madison County to the late Getter and Stella Robinson Davis July 16, 1931. Clyde loved children, bird dogs, hunting and the mountains. He was a Korean War veteran having been awarded the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the United Nations Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars. Clyde was Past Master of Sonoma Lodge #472 A. F. & A. M. Most of all Clyde loved his family and country.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Bula Wilson Davis; and three brothers, Hardy, Bernar, and Willard Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Deborah Wells (Gary), of Canton, and Lynn Lahm (Richard), of Dallas; three brothers Ernest (Kathy), Locke (Inez) and Johnny (Irene) Davis; four grandchildren, Andrew (Audrey) Wells, Aaron Wells, Kristen Lahm and Kaitlyn Lahm; one great-grandson, Lucas Wells; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m.  Saturday, Nov. 3,  at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Community Cemetery with Military Honors and with Masonic Graveside Rites performed by Sonoma Lodge #472 A. F. & A. M. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Wells, Aaron Wells, Jerry Davis, Jeff Davis, Jeremy Davis, and Bentley Rogers. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the John F. Keever Solace Center at P.O. Box 5779, Asheville, NC  28813.

The family would like to offer a word of thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the John F. Keever Solace Center.
