Girl Scout 'Express Events' planned for September

Aug 29, 2014

It’s back-to-school time and with that comes the anticipation for girls to join Girl Scouts.

In Girl Scouting, girls are always counting down to the next adventure. Maybe it's artistic. Maybe it's an experiment. Maybe it's getting outside or helping the community. Either way, girls will make new friends and have many new experiences that show the excitement of each day.

Girls can become a member for $15. Girl participation in program events is immediate but placement in a troop is based on availability. Specifically, Girl Scouts are in need of dedicated adults to take on the role of troop leaders. Each troop is led by at least two non-related registered leaders.

Girls and parents are invited to attend one of the following Express Events to learn more, regardless of where their daughter goes to school.

— Sept. 9, 3:30 and 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, located at 566 S. Haywood St., Waynesville

— Sept. 20, 9 to 10 a.m. at Camp New Life, located at 150 Camp Schaub Road, Waynesville. Come for the informational event; stay for the day.

— Sept. 23, 4 and 6 p.m. at Clyde Elementary, located at 4182 Old Clyde Road, Clyde

— Sept. 25, 3:30 and 6 p.m. at Canton Central United Methodist Church, located at 4 Church St., Canton
