A loving mother, grandmother
CANTON — Gladys Benfield Fish, 89, passed awayWednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native of Habersham County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Cater and Georgia Garrett Benfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George G. Fish, who died in 1982; a grandson, Charlie Carroll Reeves, who died in 1993; and four brothers. She and her husband owned and operated Green Hill Grocery and she worked at Belk Hudson’s Department Store in Canton. Prior to joining Canton First Baptist Church, Mrs. Fish, along with her husband, raised their children within the church family at West Canton Baptist Church. She enjoyed her beautiful flowers, as well as preparing wonderful meals for her family and many friends. She loved her Lord, her children, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Ella Ree Roberts and Katie Fish Reeves, and her husband, Nick; a son, Troy James Fish, all of Canton; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Revs. James A. Meadows and Larry Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
