GOP precinct training meetings to be Feb. 9
The Chairman of the Haywood Republican Party, Don Kelly, has asked that voters registered as Republicans in Haywood County as of Jan. 31, attend precinct training meetings from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 9, in the main Conference room of the Haywood County Extension, 589 Raccoon Road.
Training for precinct meetings is important since delegates to the Haywood County Republican Convention are elected at precinct meetings. The official precinct meetings and Republican County Convention will be Saturday, March 23.
The training session will begin with a presentation to the group. Then mock elections for each precinct committee and delegates will be conducted. The credentials committee will also receive training on their responsibilities.
For Republicans who want to be delegates to district and state conventions, but are not able to attend the March 23 convention, a "Letter of Intent" is available at www.haywoodncgop.org. The form must be completed and given to an executive committee member by March 21.
Light refreshments will be available before and during the training session. For more information, call Diana Meinecke at 646-0587 or Ted Carr at 506-0939.
