Grace Church to celebrate Holy Week
Grace Church in the Mountains will be having a full week of services for Holy Week and Easter, walking the way of the last days of Jesus’ life leading to his crucifixion, followed by the glorious celebration of his rising from the dead on Easter morning.
All in the community are invited to attend.
Holy Week activities will begin with two services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Palm Sunday, April 13. There will be a palm procession on the front lawn of the church.
The Holy Eucharist will be given at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, and Tuesday, April 15.
Maundy Thursday will be observed at 7 p.m. April 17. This will be a deeply moving service that commutates the Lord’s Last Supper with his disciples. An optional foot-washing ceremony will be offered during the service. Communicants will then watch silently at the end of the service as the sanctuary is stripped and prepared for Good Friday, and then quietly leave.
Two services will be offered on Good Friday. The first will be held at noon and participants will observe the Stations of the Cross. The second will be held at 7:30 p.m. with a homily and Holy Communion.
Easter Sunday will be celebrated with a sunrise service at 7 a.m. in the Memorial Garden — or in the chapel if it rains. Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m. and will be followed by an Easter egg hunt for the children in the Memorial Garden. Regular worship services will be held at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
