Grace Church to offer Lenton lecture series
Grace Church in the Mountains will be continuing its tradition of “Soup and Education” evenings during the Lenten season for four Wednesdays, starting Wednesday, March 12. The other dates are March 19, March 26 and April 2. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend.
The Rev. Jim Dannals, who is filling in for the Rev. Arlene Lucas while she is on sabbatical, will present “Enneagram,” and will discuss modern teachings based on ancient understandings as a means of spiritual growth.
“The purpose of Lent is to rediscover that we have forgotten who we truly are,” said Dannals. “I look forward to introducing you to a wonderful guide for spiritual transformation known as the Enneagram, with roots in the desert fathers and mothers of our Christian heritage.”
He will discuss the nine faces of God, the nine paths, and the nine passions or deadly sins — seven of which are the basis for the seven deadly sins of the Western Christian tradition.
A simple supper of soup, salad or sandwiches will be served at 5:15 p.m., followed by the program presentation from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Grace Church in the Mountains is located at 394 N. Haywood St., Waynesville. For additional information on the Lenten series, contact the parish office at 456-6029.
