Grace Noon concerts return
A favorite small venue concert series will resume at Grace Church in the Mountains — Episcopal on Thursday, March 20.
The series has become a favorite noon event for people of Haywood County because of its variety, artistic excellence and location. Grace Episcopal Church is located at 394 N. Haywood Street just off Main Street in central Waynesville.
"This is a gift to the people of Haywood County from us," commented the Rev. Arlene Lukas, Rector at Grace. In the past, a variety of performers have been heard with an emphasis on vocal and instrumental music. The noon time is intended to enable those working downtown to attend on their lunch hour. Seating includes tables for those who wish to bring their lunches. The concerts are held in Thatcher Hall and no admission is charged or collection taken.
Opening the series will be The SongSpinners, an acapella women's chorus that has performed in the Western North Carolina area.
"This group is very strong on musicianship and performance backgrounds, " said Charles Alley, director of the series. "Most of the group has performed professionally and a number of them have been Music Educators.
Programs begin promptly at noon and usually end by 12:55 p.m. The series is sponsored by Grace Episcopal Church and Downtown Waynesville Association.
