Mar 27, 2013

Bryson City — Celebrating 25 years of railroading excellence and enjoyment, Great Smoky Mountains Railroad (GSMR) is anticipating a fantastic “Silver Season” in 2013.

This year will be packed full of opportunities to explore the beauty of Western North Carolina by train and delight in the adventure of railroad engineering. Special promotions and discounts will be offered this year as well as 25th anniversary merchandise being sold exclusively in the Smoky Mountain Trains Gift Shop.

All of the favorite special events that add extra excitement to Bryson City and Dillsboro will be returning, with the addition of brand new events to enjoy. Continuing in year-round operation, travel along the rustic country-side of the Smokies, passing through the manmade Cowhee tunnel and running past the infamous movie set of "The Fugitive" starring Harrison Ford.

Throughout the year exciting special events for families and kids of all ages will be returning. Start with a visit with The PEANUTS™ gang on March 29-30 for the PEANUTS™ Easter Beagle Express™.  Passengers will join Snoopy, Lucy, Charlie Brown, and our Easter Bunnies for old-fashioned Easter fun. Festivities during the layover include crafts, coloring sheets, temporary tattoos, live music, and snacks with Snoopy and more. Go on an Easter egg hunt for special prizes and, of course, lots of candy. Bring your camera to capture all these memorable moments.
