A smiling Christine Harris and daughter, Tessa Morton, along with Habitat staff and volunteers on April 2 celebrated the start of their future home in the Barefoot Ridge development in Clyde.

This will be the 43rd house built by Haywood Habitat in the county and the first to be paid for through net proceeds of the Habitat ReStore in Waynesville.

The ReStore began its third year of operation on April 1 and is achieving its goal of sponsoring one Habitat house a year.

“It is incredible what has happened in just two years,” said ReStore Manager Gary Clontz. “We are meeting our goals thanks to this community that is supporting our store with donations, purchases and of course, volunteers. Everyone who works behind the scenes to support our ReStore is thrilled that our efforts are making this house a reality.”

The Habitat Restore, located at 95 Montgomery Street in Waynesville, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday – Saturday. Donations are welcomed and can be picked up Wednesdays and Saturday upon request. Habitat volunteers are always needed. Go to haywoodhabitat.org to learn about volunteer opportunities.
