Harry E. Noland
GOOSE CREEK, South Carolina — Harry E. Noland of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at the age of 85.
Born in Crabtree in Haywood County, Harry was the son of the late Sam Noland and Marguerite Jones Noland.
He graduated from Crabtree High School in May 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 where he served for 28 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer aboard the U.S.S. Catfish submarine in Charleston, South Carolina.
He is survived by his daughter, Deena Noland Gibson and her husband Tony of Summerville, South Carolina; sister Dot Noland Sutton of Waynesville; grandchildren Jennifer and Clinton Clark of Summerville; South Carolina; nephews Tim, Mike (Margaret) Sutton; niece Marti Sutton Morrow; aunt Louise Noland Leatherwood of Waynesville; and several cousins.
A memorial gathering was held from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at his residence in Goose Creek.
