HART holds improv workshops, drama camp
Haywood Arts Regional Theatre in Waynesville will be hosting a week-long summer camp for kids and a five-week improv workshop for adults.
HART Summer Drama Camp will be held from 9 a.m.-noon each day starting June 10 through June 14. Campers will work together to write, produce, and perform their very own play. Students will be introduced to the exciting world of drama and learn important theater essentials, including stage direction, blocking, projection, self-control and character development.
By writing and producing their own play, campers will also learn concepts like play script analysis and an actor’s responsibilities. They’ll also have the fun of applying everything they’ve learned when they perform their play for friends and family on the last day of camp. Summer Drama Camp will cost $100 per child.
The Adult Introduction to Improv workshop will be Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting June 1 through June 29. Students will learn improv fundamentals, basic rules and short-form games with the goal of mounting a short-form, comedic improv show on the final day of class. Confidence, quick thinking, trust and teamwork are just a few things students will develop during this five-week course.
This course can be beneficial to anyone interested; improv newbies, seasoned veterans, actors, and anyone looking to be more confident in any situation. The workshop will cost $100 per student.
