HART presents 'Side by Side by Sondheim'

The Haywood Arts Regional  Theater, opened the cabaret musical review “Side by Side by Sondheim” on June 28 for a run that will continue through Aug. 3.

The production features an all professional cast that includes four guest artists HART has engaged for its major summer musical “Brigadoon” opening July 12.  Nick DeVito, Samantha Alicandri, Jordana McMahon and Joshua Farrar, will be joined by HART veterans Lyn Donley and Cord Scott.

“Side by Side” was created in the early 1980s as a salute to Broadway’s most celebrated living composer. The show includes nearly two dozen songs taken from “West Side Story,” “Gypsy,” “Follies,” “Company,” “A Little Night Music” and more.

It is smart, sassy, and requires top notch talent. DeVito just returned from performing in Dublin, Donley worked extensively in New York and Chicago as an actress, Cord Scott appeared for over a year professionally in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and Alicandri, McMahon and Farrar are each in the B.F.A. Musical Theater program at Western Carolina.

The production is being directed by Steve Lloyd, Music Directed by Dr. Bradley Martin with additional staging and choreography by Cord Scott. “Side by Side” will have performances at 2 p.m. July 13, 20 and Aug. 3. Tickets; $22 for adults, $18 for seniors and $10 for students.
