First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley will be having "Harvest Sunday" at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary and at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center Sunday, Sept. 8.

Dr. Bill Saye, an evangelist from Griffin, Georgia, will be preaching in both services. At age 12, Saye was a runaway and a gang leader at 14. This led to his involvement with organized crime for the next 15 years of his life. Even though he was arrested numerous times, shot twice, burned out of two homes, his wife murdered and his son kidnapped, he still continued living a life of sin and rebellion. Then in 1980, he was arrested for first-degree murder and told he would die in the electric chair. But in 1982, he picked up a Gideon New Testament in the Prison Chapel and through it gave his life to Jesus Christ. In 1983, after completing a number of Bible courses, he was called to be an Evangelist.

After being set free from prison in 1983, he's been preaching the Gospel ever since. Along with being the founder and director of Bill Saye Ministries, he also has an extensive prison ministry and has traveled to several countries to do mission work.

Pastor Ricky Mason and the congregation of First Baptist Church in Maggie Valley invite everyone to this special day of worship and praise with Dr. Bill Saye.
