Haywood Chamber Announces Second Season of Partners in Leadership Mentoring Program

By Haywood County Chamber of Commerce | Sep 24, 2013

The Haywood Chamber of Commerce Women in Business and the Young Professionals of Haywood is now accepting applications for the second season of the “Partners in Leadership” mentoring program.

The “Partners in Leadership” program prepares Haywood County Young Professional Women (YPW) to become future business leaders by connecting them with seasoned Women in Business (WIB) professionals (Leadership Coaches) in their field. Through a formal mentor-mentee relationship, Leadership Coaches (WIB) guide Young Professional Women (YPW) through the process of developing professional/career goals and helping them gain the skills necessary to achieve them.

According to incoming Women in Business Chair, Lorinda Whaley of First Citizens Bank, “The face of leadership in Haywood County is always evolving. The County boasts a strong core of female leaders that are eager to assure that Haywood County’s young women are given the guidance and development opportunities they will need to be successful leaders in our community.”

The Partners in Leadership Program aims to increase the number of young females in mid and upper management and in volunteer, civic and public service leadership positions in Haywood County; through the development of professional networks among women in business, preparing young female professionals to become future business leaders and by making a difference in the career goals, overall growth and professional development of YPWs.

"The impact the Partners in Leadership program has on business women of all ages is very exciting” said Jennifer Jacobson YPH “Partners in Leadership” Chair.  “It is wonderful to see seasoned professionals come alongside younger women in business to mentor and share advice as they advance in their respective careers."

Interested Young Professional Women may submit an application to the program. Applications are available via the Haywood Chamber website, www.HaywoodChamber.com. All applications must be submitted to the Chamber by November 15th. Matching will be based upon backgrounds/interests, interviews and field of business.
