Haywood County Arts Council to launch ArtShare

Jun 05, 2013

The Haywood County Arts Council is launching its first ever planned giving exhibition at its gallery, Gallery 86, the last week of July.

Planned Giving Committee members Tom Irwin, Norma Kimzey, and Sylvia Everett have been meeting for two years to explore ideas of planned giving for the Haywood County Arts Council. This new project is called ArtShare, a service to help art collectors or estate agents sell one or more pieces of art with the proceeds being split between the collector and the Haywood County Arts Council. Collectors may want to sell art for a reason such as down-sizing a home, a death in the family, moving to a new home, or a change in one’s taste in art.

The Planned Giving Committee is seeking quality paintings and art objects to offer for sale. Especially desirable is art by local artists. A variety of styles, sizes and prices will be accepted and offered for sale.  The seller will receive 70 percent of the proceed and the Haywood County Arts Council will receive 30 percent as a sellers commission or the seller may choose to donate the entire proceeds of the sale to the Council.

The first ArtShare sale will take place in Gallery 86 at the Haywood County Arts Council, 86 N Main Street, Waynesville, on July 31 - Aug. 4, 2013. If you have one or more pieces of art you would like to have sold through ArtShare, contact the committee at ArtShareHCAC@gmail.com. Include a brief history/description of your art, what you believe its value to be, your name, address and phone number. The committee will contact you regarding place and time of delivering your art to the gallery, contract, and other pertinent information.
