The Haywood County Arts Council's Quilt Trails project is proud to announce the dedication of the first quilt block in Fines Creek on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 4:00 pm at the gym of the Fines Creek Community Center. Neighbors, alumni and dignitaries will gather to dedicate the "Dead Man in the Creek" quilt square.

The 8-foot wooden square was custom designed to represent the story of how Fines Creek got its name. The block is an important stop on the Arts Council's Quilt Trails project as it leads visitors into the northern part of the county.

Enjoy music, free popcorn, and learn the fascinating story of the "Dead Man in the Creek" quilt block on the historic gymnasium wall.
