Haywood County Band holds final concert

Oct 16, 2013

The Haywood Community Band will present its final free concert of the Maggie Valley Concert Series at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 in the pavilion adjacent to the Maggie Valley Town Hall on Soco Road.

The concert series, sponsored by the Maggie Valley Civic Association, runs from May through October annually. Come early, bring a picnic dinner, and enjoy a beautiful Maggie Valley sunset, and  music made popular by Dave Brubeck, "Take Five. Our America," which has memorable melodies such as "Yankee Doodle," "Your 're A grand Old Flag" and "God Bless The U.S.A." and "Seventy Six Trombones."

For more information about this presentation, or information about the Haywood Community Band, visit www.haywoodcommunityband.org/ or call Rhonda Wilson Kram at 456-4880.

There will be a special Waynesville concert on Nov. 3 remembering the band founder, Bob Hill. This concert will be at The First United Methodist Church on Haywood Street in Waynesville.  More information about this concert will be announced in coming weeks. The Haywood Community Band is supported in part, by a grassroots grant from the Haywood County Arts Council, and the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency.
