Don't mean to sound like I live in a cave but can someone explain to me what 'early college' is.

Early college is on the Haywood Community College campus and is a program whereby incoming 8th graders can complete both high school and two years of college in five years. Graduates have both a high school diploma and an associate of arts degree.  The reason the academics can be fast-tracked is that students focus on studies as opposed to dividing time with extracurricular activities.

Early College is actually for rising 9th graders, who complete six years of school in five.
