Haywood Garden Tour a beautiful success
Haywood County Garden Tour was held on a warm summer day Saturday, June 23. More than 550 people visited each of six gardens on the tour, which was presented by the N.C. Cooperative Extension Foundation and the Haywood County Extension Master Gardeners.
The six gardens on the tour represented the theme "Gardens, Mountains and Streams." The beauty of nature and horticulture were evident in each of the distinctly different gardens, including the mountain-top garden of Jane Alexander, atop Cataloochee Mountain; the creek-side garden of Lou and June Dombrova, in Jonathan Valley, with its park-like stetting; the horticulturally unique garden of Rodney and Phylis Hamm, on Plott Creek, with it's "A to Z" plantings; the whimsical hillside garden of Colleen Gurley, in Iron Duff; and her sister, ...
