Haywood marching bands to compete Sept. 29

The 38th Annual Land of the Sky Marching Band Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 29,at Enka High School Stadium, 475 Enka Lake Road, in Candler. The festival will begin at 11:15 am with Enka Middle School playing the Star Spangled Banner.

Both Haywood County high school bands will be performing in the competition. Pisgah will perform at 1:30 p.m. and will compete in 1 - AA Class against East Henderson, West Henderson, Shelby and Clyde A Erwin.

Tuscola will perform at 6:30 p.m. and will compete in 3 - A Class against Brevard and AC Reynolds.

Other highlights of the festival include exhibition performances of the WCU Pride of the Mountains Marching Band at 4:25 and 8:15 p.m., WCU Percussion Ensemble at 1:45 p.m. and Enka High Marching Jets at 7:45 p.m.
