Hazelwood Convenience Center temporarily closes Sept. 15

Aug 29, 2014

The Haywood County Convenience Center located in Hazelwood will close on Sept. 15, for renovations.

The renovation project is expected to make the solid waste and recycling center more user-friendly and improve public safety, according to Haywood County Solid Waste Director Stephen King. The renovations at the Hazelwood facility, one of the County’s largest, will likely be used as a model for future renovations at some of the other nine convenience centers.

The anticipated completion date for renovations is October 13, 2014. While the Hazelwood facility is closed, the operating schedule at the Mauney Cove and Jones Cove Convenience Centers will be increased to 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday throughSaturday.

This is great for the Hazelwood site, but the Ironduff is in need of a major overhaul. The site is a danger to get in/out of, and is not large enough for all the traffic that comes through it.
