The seventh annual Haywood Christian Academy Black and White Charity Ball was held this past Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Maggie Valley Club and Resort. This year’s theme was “The Great Gatsby,” and it made for great festivities, dancing and attire.

A charity is chosen by the students every year to receive a donation of the proceeds, and this year, it was given to Haywood Christian Ministries for their heating assistance program. A check for $1,200 was presented to John Berrong, previous executive director of Haywood Christian Ministries, by Headmaster Blake Stanbery. Both spoke about the blessing of the students and the school’s desire to reach out into the community and offer assistance and prayers to the needy of our county.
