HCA gives to cancer center

Members of the Haywood Christian Academy Student Council visited Haywood Cancer Center with some gifts last week. The middle and high school students have been collecting scarves, hats, and other head coverings for patients at 21st Century Oncology during the month of October in honor of cancer awareness month.

Student body president Joe Womack encouraged his fellow students to participate.

“We’re fortunate to have a place like this at home and need to support them,” said Womack.

HCA’s elementary school students joined in the effort by making cards for the patients. Students worked on their cards during art classes and included Bible verses on each one.

“We hope we brightened someone’s day by sharing God’s love in a card,” said Penny Readlling, art instructor at HCA.
