Clyde, NC: Open enrollment for Haywood Christian Academy is currently underway. Encouraged by 70 recent inquiries and early interest in our school, we urge you to call the school or fill out the online inquiry via our website to schedule your personal tour. Online applications can be accessed at www.HaywoodChristianAcademy.org. We welcome you to schedule a personal meeting with our Head of School and tour our campuses where you will meet our professional administration and faculty and see how low student/teacher ratios create an optimal learning environment.

Haywood Christian Academy is an independent community-minded school, focused on developing students into Christian leaders. Each student at HCA will experience a personal and relational education that is Christ-centered and founded upon biblical truth. Through a Christian worldview, students will delve into rich content and grapple with ideas that challenge the mind. HCA graduates are well prepared to navigate the collegiate environment with a confident faith and academic preparedness.

Haywood Christian Academy is entering its eleventh year and we are very excited about all that is in store! With future plans to sell our current campus at 1400 Old Clyde Road, HCA is actively pursuing a newly consolidated campus for the near future. This campus will unite our two-campus school under one roof, allowing for new opportunities and unlimited growth potential. In February, we kicked off an event entitled “Twenty Days of Prayer and Fasting” for the school’s future. We are already reaping the harvest of this focused time of prayer for HCA.

Holding two accreditations, Association of Christian Schools International and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, HCA is committed to high academic standards.  With 27 employees, HCA is committed to being a rigorous college preparatory Christian school. All of our full time faculty are ACSI certified and are appropriately degreed in the areas in which they teach. Faculty at HCA are committed to teaching not only their given subjects of expertise, but also the values and beliefs of a Christ-centered worldview.

HCA’s Early Learning Center and Elementary Program offer a nurturing, yet challenging learning environment for all students, from pre-k age to the 5th grade. Faculty are well-versed in a hands-on, multi-sensory approach to learning. Class sizes are small so students receive individualized attention and are able to establish close relationships with teachers and peers.

Middle School students have opportunities for blended learning as they use technology to research, compile and share information in core classes.  Math instruction provides opportunities to refine understanding with multisensory activities, interactive journaling, and problem solving. Students are offered enrichment classes in fine arts, technology, study skills, teen living, praise band, woodworking, P.E., personal fitness, and health.  A full array of competitive sports are available within our middle school and high school conferences.

The High School program is designed to help students develop mature skills of reasoning, expression, research and problem solving that will prepare them to successfully navigate collegiate environments of their choice.  A partnership with Haywood Community College and Fruitland Bible College enables students to dual enroll during Junior and Senior years to simultaneously earn high school and college credits.  Opportunities to participate in competitive sports and Fine Arts productions are part of the HCA experience.  Students are also encouraged to serve their local communities through various outreaches throughout the school year.

For students with average to above average cognitive abilities who struggle with language-based learning differences, HCA offers a unique program entitled The Bridge Learning Center. This program offers language tutorials that are delivered by experienced tutors who have been trained or are receiving coursework followed by practicum in the Orton-Gillingham methodology. These tutorials are available during the school day and most evenings and help support the regular education program at HCA. The Bridge program is now extending its services to the community, offering after school support in the fall of 2017, including students in public school, charter, and homeschool settings. Limited spaces are available so call immediately to find out how to reserve a space.

HCA’s 5-12th grade students can participate in many extra-curricular offerings such as: soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and performing arts. We are actively exploring a sportsman club for next school year.

Scholarship opportunities are available. For those who are considering moving from public to private education or have a child entering kindergarten or first grade regardless of current school setting, please fill out the N.C. Opportunity Scholarship application at http://www.ncseaa.edu and choose Haywood Christian Academy as your school of choice.  Current HCA families have successfully received a full scholarship of $4,200 through NCSEAA. For those families who are ineligible for this scholarship, HCA has limited funds available through the school. You may apply for HCA’s scholarship through the school’s website.

HCA accepts students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded, or made available to, students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, scholarship programs, athletic or other school administered programs.
