What happens when you put 12 preschoolers, 12 tricycles, and a beautiful spring day together at Haywood Christian Academy? Something wonderful — lots of fun, an opportunity to help small children learn the blessedness of serving others, and $400.50 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A small course was lined-out in front of Haywood’s Junior School Campus where students arrived bright and early with tricycles, bicycles, helmets, and pledges from sponsors.  This event involved the entire elementary school as students were grouped into pit crews with job assignments that help assist the young riders.

Preschool teachers, parents, grandparents and elementary school students and staff cheered for the young students, as they rode laps, hoping to raise their goal of $400 for the children’s hospital.

By the end of the morning, tired but happy children learned they had exceeded their goal.  The money went to the hospital to fund medical needs for needy families. HCA students learn early in life the joy of giving.
