HCC and HCA Sign Understanding for Use of College Library
Haywood Community College and Haywood Christian Academy recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the shared use of the college’s educational resources available through HCC’s Freedlander Learning Resource Center.
“As an institution designed for use by the community, it is our goal to serve members of all ages,” explains Dr. Bill Aiken, HCC Interim President. “By signing this memorandum, we hope to encourage lifelong learning in these students.”
The agreement is designed to facilitate a successful relationship between upcoming college students and their local community college and to enhance the pursuit of educational research and learning needs by working collaboratively with the college and community.
“The students at Haywood Christian Academy had a need that the Freedlander Learning Resource Center could meet,” says Bill Kinyon, HCC Director of Library and Learning Resources. “We look forward to helping these students with their library and research needs. We hope this relationship will help the students develop an interest in furthering their educational journey.”
HCC will provide orientations and media resource training sessions to HCA classes and assist HCA students and faculty with access to online databases, journals, and periodicals. In addition, HCA students will have access to NC Live and other online resources.
"I am always pleased when we can collaborate with our local community college,” says Blake Stanbery, Headmaster of Haywood Christian Academy. “Our students will benefit greatly by accessing the vast resources of the Freedlander Learning Center. Dr. Aiken has been a gracious community partner in this process."
