HCC Creative Writing Contest winners announced

Haywood Community College’s 2014 Creative Writing Contest recently named three student winners.

Eddie Parsons, Haywood Early College student, claimed first place in the fiction category with his work titled “Of Blight and Beauty.” Haywood Early College student Dylan Brown won first in the poetry category with “Someone with O.C.D: A Slam Poem.” The non-fiction category was claimed by Associate in Arts student Mark Page with “An Escape from Reality.”

All three winners were awarded $100 and their work was published in the 2014 issue of Haywood Press. A panel of HCC faculty and staff selected the winners from more than 50 entries. The HCC Foundation generously provided the funds for this contest.
