HCC fiber students awarded at national exhibition

Haywood Community College Professional Crafts Fiber students and recent graduates recently won awards in the national juried student fiber exhibition Spotlight on Student Fiber Trends 2014 at the Lamar Dodd School of Art Galleries at the University of Georgia, Athens.

Student Clara Schulte and 2014 HCC Professional Crafts Fiber graduates Dana Claire and Deanna Lynch each received awards. Entrants included students in leading four year universities and private art schools. The exhibit will run through June 29.

Claire was the recipient of the Edwina Bringle Award for her work titled "Wrapped in Smiles." Schulte was awarded Merit Prize for her piece called "Winter Trail." "Spring Kimono," by Lynch, was also awarded Merit Prize. The prize sponsor for both Merit Prizes was Georgia Yarn Company.
