Haywood Community College recently held a Scholarship Recognition Event where scholarship donors were able to meet the students who were awarded scholarships.

More than 160 students received scholarships this academic year. Over $245,000 was awarded through the HCC Foundation and outside scholarships.

When HCC student Diane Floyd was laid off, she came back to HCC to retool and get ready for a new career. At the scholarship recognition event, she had the opportunity to tell donors how receiving a scholarship helped her. “It helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel. I want to thank donors for helping me achieve my goals.”

HCC students can now apply for scholarships by completing an online application. The application period runs through May 7. Visit http://www.haywood.edu/scholarships to view the online application or click on the link on the HCC homepage under “Quick Links.” For more information about the online scholarship application or for help with the process, please call Laura Ammons at 828-565-4170 or email lammons@haywood.edu.
