HCC robotics camp a success

By Haywood Community College | Jul 18, 2014

HCC’s recent Robotics STEM camp was a success. The camp was designed to raise awareness of manufacturing jobs and technology careers in the area, create awareness of the high school dual enrollment program in electronics, engineering and technology and increase the number of women in technology careers.

The camp was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. High school participants toured Evergreen Packaging in Canton, learned about engineering degree options at Western Carolina University, and worked in teams to create a robot and showcase its operation to visitors during a challenge. In addition, participants were introduced to electronics, additive manufacturing and 3D modeling, and robotics.
