Collection for Christmas boxes for seniors has begun. The Senior Resource Center is asking churches, businesses, organizations and individuals to help with providing boxes full of goodies for Haywood’s seniors.

There are many elderly residents in the county who need help to ensure they have a good Christmas this year. There are two ways of donating — either gift wrap boxes with Christmas paper and fill them with some of the suggested items below or make a donation and the Senior Resource Center will purchase the needed items.

Suggested items for the boxes include, pop top canned goods, soap, paper towels, liquid dish detergent, small blankets, light bulbs, toilet paper, pens, toothpaste, batteries, lotions, shampoo, socks, deodorants, gloves, Wet ones or wipes, stationary, magazines, nail files, flashlights, snacks, candy, postage stamps and toothbrushes.

Contact Eddie Wells at the Senior Resource Center at 452-2370 for more information.  All boxes and donations should be sent to the Senior Resource Center no later than Dec. 10.
Those sending cash or checks are asked to specify that it be for the senior Christmas boxes.  Checks should be made out to Mountain Projects, Inc.  Receipts will be given. Mail checks to Senior Resource Center, 81 Elmwood Way, Waynesville, NC 28786.
