MedWest Haywood will hold a seminar focusing on swallowing disorders from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at the MedWest Haywood Health & Fitness Center. Those in attendance will learn about common causes of swallowing problems, signs and symptoms and treatment options. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. The seminar is free and open to the public.

The seminar will be led by Chris Thornton and Catherine Leister, speech pathologists at MedWest Haywood who have a combined 50 years of experience working with adults and children with speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders.

This seminar is part of a new series entitled Helpful Hints, which is aimed at educating the community on common health issues. The previous installment in the series focused on pain and discomfort in the hands, wrists and elbows and was led by an occupational and certified hand therapist.
