Henry B. Cagle
In Loving Memory
CANTON — Henry Bert Cagle, 87, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014.
Mr. Cagle was a native of Haywood County and was the son of the late Bert Cagle and the late Mabel Trull Cagle Morgan. He was a graduate of Bethel High School and served his country proudly as a United States Marine veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. Henry began his career as a Cleveland City policeman in Cleveland, Ohio, before transferring to the Cleveland City Fire Department as a fireman, where he gave his dedicated and selfless service and retired with 20 years of devoted service. Henry was known for his spur of the moment trips and had traveled to all 48 states in the Continental U.S. In addition to traveling, he enjoyed growing all varieties of fruit trees and spending time on his back porch. He was a member of the VFW Post # 891 in Asheville. Henry will always be remembered for his service to others and his love for his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Bazemore.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice Kohler Cagle; a daughter, Roberta Brant and her husband, Charles, of Akron, Ohio; a son, Robert Cagle and his wife, Laura, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio; grandchildren, Amanda Mason and Matthew Mason, Daniel Wallon Jr., Cassie Cagle and Bryan Cagle.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW/American Legion Honor Guard, 216 Miller Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
