Henry Dingus road name change center of controversy
What’s in a name? Apparently quite a lot.
A request to change the name of Henry Dingus Way, a road leading into the Campbell Woods subdivision in Maggie Valley, has been a hot topic. In one camp are those who don’t like the idea of changing historical names in the community. The other group is searching for a name that more appropriately reflects the surroundings — and that may help with real estate sales.
Those who live in the development started by the late Dingus have reported problems with the roads, which are sinking and have potholes. An attorney informed the subdivision owners they have no recourse. They also note the Dingus heirs have not paid the taxes on the unsold parcels.
