Hiker rescued

The North Carolina Helo-Aquatic Rescue Team (NC HART) Tuesday night is rescuing a 22 year-old hiker from the Black Balsam Knob area in Haywood County.
The female hiker had been missing for more than 24 hours when State Highway Patrol aviation crews located her earlier this evening.
The HART team will fly out the stranded hiker and transfer her to local medical crews to be treated for hypothermia.
NC HART is an state Emergency Management asset that combines aviation assets from the N.C. State Highway Patrol and N.C. National Guard with highly trained local rescue technicians from across the state. Teams are used to rescue injured or stranded people who are trapped by rising flood waters, in isolated areas or dangerous situations.
