In Loving Memory

CANTON – Hildegard Linnebaum Hukowski, 88, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at her residence.

A native of Emsdetten, Germany, she had lived in Haywood County since 2010 and in North Carolina since 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Linnenbaum; her husband, Alexander S. Hukowski who died on April 3, 1997 and a daughter, Eva Maria Wilhelm.

Hilda grew up in Germany with six sisters and one brother. She survived World War II and married a Polish soldier, Alex Hukowski. After the war, the two owned and operated a shoemaker shop before moving to the United States and starting a new life in New York City.
