Karen Owens, president of STAR Ranch feels that  all STAR horses dream of a family of their own  — and it would be extra special to have it happen just in time for Christmas on green grass and nights in a cozy barn.
Mya, a quarter horse mare, was first sponsored by Penny Branch through the $100 sponsorship program at STAR Ranch.  Branch was able to meet and get to know Mya during their visits together at the ranch.  She loved Mya and knew she wanted to take the next step to foster.  Once everyone is comfortable with the foster arrangement, adoption is the final goal.

“Connie seemed to be seeking Penny’s attention as well,” said Mike Rodriguez, ranch foreman.  “Connie is young and green as grass.  She really needs someone to work with her one on one. This is good.”

When asked for a comment, once the horses unloaded, Branch said, “I think I’m gonna cry.”

Hal, Penny’s husband, said, "it’s all her idea. I think she’s happy.”

Owens, who delivered the horses to the Branch farm, believes the arrangement is "a win-win for everyone."
