MedWest Haywood has announced the next round of training and orientation sessions for those interested in becoming hospice and/or hospital campus volunteers. The sessions will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 20 and 21. Please note, both the Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 training and orientation sessions are required for those interested in volunteering for hospice. Those interested in hospital campus volunteering are only required to attend the training and orientation session on Nov. 21, but may attend both if they like.
The Hospice Volunteer Orientation is designed to help participants understand the hospice philosophy and operations of the Hospice & Palliative Care Program, different types of hospice volunteer opportunities, socializing opportunities and many other important areas of this very rewarding and important part of our community.
The Hospice & Hospital Campus Volunteer Orientation is designed to help participants understand MedWest Haywood core values, learn about hospital safety, security, hospital campus volunteer opportunities and other aspects of volunteering in a medical setting.
Once participants have attended both orientation days, they may choose to be a part of one or both programs.
Pre-registration is required, as lunch will be served. For more information or to pre-register, interested community members may contact Susie Martini, volunteer and marketing coordinator, at 452-5039 ext. 4013 or Susan.Martini@haymed.org.
