HRMC board takes time analyzing MedWest situation
The Haywood Regional Medical Center Board of Commissioners called a special meeting Monday to discuss a matter that will literally shape their future — a resolution by partner WestCare to dissolve MedWest, the umbrella organization formed nearly three years ago.
Before a final decision can be made by the MedWest governing board, which is made up of 14 members, half from WestCare and half from HRMC, members say they need to know where the HRMC board stands on the issue.
After a briefing about the affiliation between HRMC, and the Harris and Swain hospitals that make up WestCare from John Young, interim CEO of MedWest-Haywood, and western regional vice president for Charlotte-based Carolinas HealthCare, the HRMC board discussed the issue for three hours before releasing a statement.
