Ida Velma Arnold

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GEORGIA — Ida Velma Arnold, 95, died peacefully March 4, 2013, at Magnolia Manor on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
She was born April 1917 in Shirley, Massachusetts, to the late Ralph and Elsie Holden Evans. Ida was an avid equestrian, artist and dulcimer player, who had lived in Tallahassee, Florida, and Balsam, before moving to St. Simons eight years ago.
She was preceded in death by husband, Earl Leon Arnold; brother, Homer Evans; and two sisters, Esther Evans and Eva McLevy.
Ida is survived by daughter, Susan Hoffman, and husband, Jeffrey, of Sea Island, Georgia; son, Philip Arnold, and wife Sue, of Tallahassee, Florida; grandson Grayson Hoffman (wife Jamie), of Jupiter, Florida; granddaughter, Amanda Thaw (husband, Jonathan); great-grandson, Andrew Thaw, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; brother, Ralph Evans, of Pittsboro, and sister, Ruby Johnson, of Holden, Massachusetts.
A private family inurnment was held at the Christ Church Cemetery Columbarium on St. Simons Island.
