'Invest in Your Breasts' at Pink Regalia

Stephany Smathers, owner of Pink Regalia in Clyde, holds up a piece of lingerie in her store.

Change your bra, change your life.

That’s the motto adopted by Molly Hopkins and Cynthia Richards, owners of LiviRae Lingerie boutique in Atlanta and star of Lifetime’s reality hit show "Double Divas."

With their outrageous antics, hilarious catch phrases and all around Southern Belle appeal, the best friend duo makes it their mission to find a bra for every shape and size.

But Haywood County residents don’t have to drive all the way to Atlanta to get that same experience. Stephany Smathers, owner of Pink Regalia in Clyde and a certified bra fitter, can get the job done.

Much like the stars of the show, Smathers says women need to understand that if you “invest in your breasts,” you will get more than just a new bra.

“It’s amazing what people don’t know about bras,” Smathers said. “So many women believe that if they were a B cup when they were in their 20s that means they will be a B cup the rest of their lives.”

But because a woman’s body goes through so many changes over the years —pregnancy, nursing, surgeries and age — bra needs change as time goes by. Sometimes a new bra could mean fixing ailments such as back or shoulder pain.

And having the right bra often makes women reach a goal they have always strived for — to look thinner.

“It really makes a difference in how your clothes fit,” Smathers said. “It can make a person 10 times thinner if they wear the correct bra."

At Pink Regalia, you’ll be able to find bra sizes that aren’t available in just any department store.

Once fitted correctly, some women are disproportionate and need unusual bra sizes, and there’s nothing wrong with that, Smathers said. But it’s important to know what your needs are.

Some woman have small cup sizes and large band sizes, or vice versa.

“You won’t find a 32 F or a 44 B when you go to Belk,” she said.

Smathers is certified to find any woman’s perfect fitting and coming to Pink Regalia means customers get plenty of one-on-one time to find exactly what they need. Smathers will even bring items straight to the dressing room, without the customer ever having to change back into her clothes to pick out another bra.

Best of all, customers aren’t charged a penny extra for that specialized service. It’s all part of the package to help women leave the store feeling a little more empowered.

A day at Pink Regalia is not unlike what’s portrayed on the reality television show. There are plenty of laughs and giggles, but at the end of the session, customers leave with an education about bras and even about themselves.

Smathers orders most of her products from the same supplier as the Double Divas, meaning what you see on the show could likely be found in the small Clyde store.

“It’s funny, I’ll be watching the show and say, ‘Oh, I have that in my store!’” Smathers said.

Aside from fashionable lingerie and bras, Smathers also carries a full line of products catering to mastectomy patients. Synthetic form bras, bathing suits with water proof forms, stylish head wraps and even fake, sticker nipples to match any shade.

And if she doesn’t carry a product in the store, don’t worry.

“If I don’t have it, I’ll track it down for you. We’ll find it somewhere,” she said.

For those who are nervous about getting a bra fitting, Smathers says only good things can come from it.

“There’s nothing to be scared of and you’re going to feel so much better and more confident if you do. You’ll be so glad you did it,” she said.
