James Hammel Kicks Off December Music Series LIVE at the Classic Wineseller
Waynesville, NC - On Friday, December 6 at 7pm, James Hammel will kick off December’s live music performances at the Classic Wineseller located at 20 Church Street in Waynesville. The Wineseller’s restaurant opens at 5:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays serving freshly prepared small plate fare. There is a $10 per person minimum on live music nights which includes food, drink, and retail purchases. Reservations are accepted between 6pm and 7pm by calling 828-452-6000.
James Hammel has performed in New York City at venues such as the Metropolitan Room, Satalla, Kavehaz, PM, CBGBs gallery, and The Bitter End. He also appeared on Houston’s Emmy-award-winning show, “The After Party”. Hammel blends his own, often autobiographical originals, with fresh arrangements of jazz standards and some twists on adult pop tunes. What often comes through is a boyish levity regarding his hard-earned freedom from—as well as his homage to—20 years at the top of the corporate ladder.
Singer-songwriter and pianist Joe Cruz will entertain with hits of the Beatles and Elton John on Saturday, December 7 at 7pm. Raised in New York City, Cruz started performing in church as a child. As a young man he became a regular performer on the New York nightclub scene. He has opened for such notable groups as Chicago, Santana, Bonnie Raitt, and Average White Band.
On Friday, December 13, the Classic Wineseller is hosting its first Jingle Bell Bash featuring the group, Gypsy Bandwagon. Husband and wife band members Lance and Carrisa Moore, and James and Karin Lyle willperform Celtic, Gypsy, Western, Pop, and lots of Christmas and holiday favorites on fiddle, vocals, guitar, and drums. Gypsy Bandwagon's music is delivered with an infectious sense of playful fun, perfect for de-stressing during the holidays.
Joe Cruz is back at the piano on Saturday, December 14 at 7pm delivering more holiday cheer via a sing along in the cellar during downtown Waynesville’s “Night before Christmas” celebration.
At 7pm on Friday night, December 20, Jesse Cook (guitar) and Betina Morgan (harp, vocals) will play a mix of tunes including Christmas and holiday classics.
Jay Brown (piano, vocals, guitar, harmonica, percussion) performs at 7pm on Friday, December 27. Brown has spent years traveling and playing across the U.S. taking in its rich musical heritage. He has performed with the Old Crow Medicine Show and shared the stage with musical legends, Etta Baker and Doc Watson.
On Tuesday, December 31 celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Classic Wineseller with dinner and a show beginning at 7pm. Sheila Gordon and the Knoxville-based Downtowners will perform pop and jazz standards. The price for the four-course New Year’s Eve dinner and show is $49.99 per person and includes a champagne toast.
Sheila Gordon has been playing piano and singing her way in to the hearts of thousands since she was a young girl. Her beautiful voice moves effortlessly between musical genres such as blues, jazz, gospel, and popular music. She’ll be accompanied by the Downtowners on congas, piano, and drums.
