James 'Jake' Moore
World War II Veteran
WAYNESVILLE — James “Jake” Moore, 85, of Waynesville, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in Haywood County Feb. 15, 1927, to the late Woodford and Annie Brackett Moore. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was proud member of the VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. He retired from Dayco Industries, following 41 years of service. He was an avid trout fisherman.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his companion, Hazel Robinson; his ex-wife, Betty Jean Moore; and son, Timothy Alan Moore.
Survivors include sons, Steve Moore, and his wife, Susan, of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Mike Moore, and his wife, Sharon, of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Heather Knowles and Jason Moore of Sevierville, Tennessee; and three great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Samuel Wiley, and Maxwell Isaac Knowles, all of Sevierville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, in the Chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Rev. Billy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.
