James Stepp Jr.
CANTON — James “Bug” Stepp Jr., 64, of the Cruso community, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James Lawrence and Marie Inman Stepp and was also preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Stepp. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era and a former employee of Evergreen Packaging, retiring in 2011. James loved the outdoors and enjoyed going deer hunting, fishing and digging ginseng.
James is survived by his wife of 38 years, Drami Webb Stepp; one daughter, Crystal Bryant of the Bethel community; two sons, Tony Rayburn and his wife, Glenna, of Waynesville and Jimmy Stepp of Canton; one brother, Terry Stepp of Canton; seven grandchildren; and his faithful dog, “Nik Nik.”
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Shelly Webb officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
