Waynesville, NC - The Classic Wineseller opens its September Live Music series with jazz guitarist Dan Keller on Friday, September 5 at 7pm. Keller began studying composition, theory and guitar in 1995 with instructor Joe Marquand. He studied and performed with renowned guitarist Marc Yaxley privately, and later at the University of North Carolina in Asheville (UNCA). Keller appears regularly at Cedric's on the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.

Singer-songwriter Joe Cruz performs the music of the Beatles and Elton John at the Steinway piano on Saturday, September 6 at 7pm. Born in NYC, Joe Cruz grew up singing and playing in church. As a teenager he started performing regularly at clubs in NYC. He has opened for such greats as Chicago, Bonnie Raitt, and Santana.

Mike Pilgrim mandolin, Don Mercz guitar, and Drew Kirkpatrick, guitar perform Gypsy jazz on Friday, September 12 at 7pm. Mike Pilgrim and Don Mercz have been playing music together for over 30 years and share an affinity for the passionate and exhilaratingly up-tempo Gypsy jazz music.

Jazz pianist Richard Shulman performs jazz standards and originals at the Steinway piano on Saturday, September 13 at 7pm. Pianist Richard Shulman has recorded twenty-three of his own albums as well as more than two dozen other recordings for which he has provided compositions, performances and/or musical production. Trained in the classical and jazz fields, he has developed a heartfelt language in these genres and performs original jazz as the Richard Shulman Trio.

Shulman has performed at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Art Park, the United Nations, the Kool Jazz Festival, The Amenia Peace Festival and a wide variety of other venues throughout North America and in Europe.

Daniel Shearin performs Friday, September 19 at 7pm at the Classic Wineseller. He is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who lives in Asheville, NC. Shearin has been performing regularly as a solo artist and he has been an active member of several popular bands in the area including Uncle MountainRiver Whyless, and Now You See Them. Shearin will play and sing a mix of folk, rock, and world music on finger-style acoustic guitar and harmonica.

Joe Cruz is back at the Steinway piano playing favorites of the Beatles and Elton John  on Saturday, September 20 at 7pm.

Singer-songwriter Matthew Welborn, and vocalist wife, Jessi Stone perform as the duo, Bohemian Jean on Friday, September 26 at 7pm. Jessi Stone chooses covers that suit her soulful alto voice — including hits from Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Patsy Cline, and Carly Simon. Welborn complements his wife’s voice with rich harmonies, also adding his own fun covers and original music to the mix. High school sweethearts, the couple’s natural chemistry shines through when they perform the music they love.

Get ready for great sing along opportunities on Saturday, September 27 when Joe Cruz returns to the Steinway piano singing the best of the Beatles and Elton John at 7pm.

The Classic Wineseller presents local, regional, or national talent each week. The retail shop opens at 11am Tuesday through Saturday. The kitchen opens at 4pm Friday and Saturday serving small plate and tapas-style cuisine. There is a $10 per person food minimum on non-ticketed live music nights.
