Jean Eleanor Hall Martin
Beloved Mother, Grandmother
CANTON – Jean Eleanor Hall Martin (“Miss Jean”), 84, of Brookside Drive, Canton, went home to be with her Lord Friday, Dec. 28, 2012.
A native of Meadville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William Preston Hall and the late Marion Little Hall Gamble. She had lived in Hollywood, Florida, until 1975, when she moved to Haywood County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William John Martin III (“Mr. Bill”), and two brothers, Edward Guy Hall and Charles Albert Hall.
She is survived by four daughters, Amy Barnard, of Clyde, Marion Martin, of Waynesville, Lori Carnes, of Indian Land, South Carolina, and Jeannie Sutton, of Lancaster, South Carolina; one son, William John Martin IV, of Clyde; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A “Celebrate Jesus” service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at West Canton Baptist Church. Burial will be at the N.C. State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain, at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. A meal will be shared together in the fellowship hall following the service.
